To maximize the effectiveness of your mosquito trap, it’s essential to take preventive measures before using it. These measures are designed to prevent larvae from developing in your yard:  

• Eliminate sources of standing water by regularly emptying your plant saucers and checking areas that are likely to hold water, such as your patio.  
• Maintain your garden regularly by raking up leaves from under the trees and picking up fallen fruit, since mosquitoes feed on nectar and sugar.
• Clean your gutters at least once a year in the spring to prevent water from pooling.
• Cover your rainwater tanks with mosquito netting or similar devices.
• Promote biodiversity by introducing fish and frogs into ornamental ponds and fountains.
• Be sure to maintain your pool water so that it always stays clear.

By adopting these preventive measures, you will effectively help reduce the number of mosquitoes in your outdoor space.

The Willo mosquito trap works on the principle of biomimicry: it mimics human presence by emitting a small amount of CO2—equivalent to the amount we exhale—and by releasing a scent attractant that replicates our body odors.

Mosquitoes, attracted to the trap, are sucked into the intake opening and caught in a net, from which they cannot escape as long as the suction flow continues. The trap can capture mosquitoes within a radius of about 10 meters. By leaving it running throughout the season, it not only attracts females but also prevents them from reproducing, thereby reducing their population in the desired area.

The Willo trap can operate without the Wiliv mobile app, but its performance is optimized through the settings, information, and your interaction with the app. We therefore recommend that you download the app (available for Android and iOS) and connect to your Willo trap via Bluetooth.

To set up the mosquito trap, follow these key steps: 

1. Position the trap correctly: in a shaded area, sheltered from the wind, and near vegetation to maximize its effectiveness. 
2. Plug the trap into an outlet. 
3. Place the scent attractant and the CO2 cylinder—which you purchased separately—inside the trap.
4. Make sure the mesh support is securely in place.
5. Download the Wiliv mobile app and connect the trap via Bluetooth
6. Set the time slots for CO2 release using the app

Ideally, start it at the beginning of the season to catch the first mosquitoes and prevent them from breeding. Of course, you can turn it on at any time during the season!

To maintain the trap’s effectiveness, the consumables must be replaced every 15 days. When the app indicates that the CO2 level is low, it prompts you to check the actual remaining level on the dial of the regulator connected to the cylinder.

When the gauge reads 0 bar, replace the cylinder by following these steps:

• Remove the bottle and its connector from the trap.
• Close the bottle by turning the valve clockwise until it stops.
• Unscrew the regulator fitting using an adjustable wrench.
• Connect a new cylinder as you would during initial setup

Since our solution is a long-term treatment, it is absolutely necessary to keep the trap plugged in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the entire season, even when you are away. 

You can schedule the CO2 release times using the mobile app on your smartphone. To ensure the trap is as effective as possible, it’s important to adjust the release times based on when mosquitoes are present in your yard. For example, the tiger mosquito is most active during the day and in the evening. The common mosquito, on the other hand, is generally active in the evening and at night. 

As for the fans, they run continuously—that's perfectly normal!

Absolutely! Since our solution is a long-term treatment, the trap must remain plugged in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—even when you’re away—because mosquitoes don’t take vacations!

No, the trap must be installed outdoors only.

To prevent the device's suction capacity from deteriorating, it is important to clean the strainer and the cone every 15 days. It is not necessary to disconnect the trap to perform this task.

To prevent any surviving mosquitoes from flying away, perform this step as close to the fans as possible. You can crush the mosquitoes in your hand before emptying the net and, if necessary, cleaning it.

It is also essential to keep the suction inlet clean; you can gently clean it with a damp sponge or a suitable brush.

It takes about 1 to 2 weeks to see a significant reduction in the number of mosquitoes.

The placement of the trap is a very important factor in capturing mosquitoes. Mosquitoes tend to gather in cool, damp, and shaded areas such as hedges and dense vegetation—these are their resting areas. It is therefore recommended to place the Willo trap near these areas.

Also, be sure to place it out of the wind, as wind can disperse the scents released by the trap. Finally, for effective mosquito population control, place the trap in the areas of your yard where there are the most mosquitoes. If this spot is far from the area you want to protect, the trap can be placed between the vegetation and the patio to capture some of the mosquitoes along the way.

If the area to be covered is less than 300 square meters and does not have many obstacles, a single trap may be sufficient to provide adequate protection. However, if the area exceeds 300 square meters or contains obstacles such as furniture, walls, etc., it may be necessary to install several traps to ensure complete coverage.

The charging station is programmed using the Wiliv mobile app.

The Wiliv app lets you set the time slots for CO2 release. For optimal effectiveness, it recommends adjusting the time slots based on the presence of mosquitoes in your garden.

The Wiliv mobile app provides an estimate of CO2 emissions based on the selected parameters, but it cannot provide an exact figure.

In fact, weather conditions such as changes in atmospheric pressure and temperature can affect gas consumption, which may result in discrepancies between the app’s estimates and the actual readings shown on the pressure gauge connected to the cylinder. This gauge provides reliable information.

When the app alerts you that the CO2 level is low, it prompts you to check the actual remaining level on the gauge of the regulator connected to the cylinder. This will give you an accurate reading.

• Check that the trap is properly plugged in
• Check to make sure the outlet the trap is plugged into is working
• Check that the power supply is properly connected to the circuit board.
• Check the condition of the power cords by unplugging and replugging the trap (see if the LEDs light up properly). If not, try other extension cords.

• Make sure that Bluetooth and location services are enabled and that all permissions requested during app installation have been granted.
• Close/Reopen the app
• Close the app, turn on Airplane Mode, turn off Airplane Mode, turn Bluetooth and location services back on, and then try again.
• If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the app.
• Check your OS version and verify compatibility in the store

On some traps, you can sometimes see ants coming and going through the cone. In this case, the ants are collecting the carcasses of mosquitoes and other insects to take them back to the anthill. This means the trap is working very well, and the net stays very clean. Similarly, you may sometimes see spiders hunting mosquitoes that are still alive in the net, which also helps keep the net cleaner.

If that isn't enough to explain the absence of mosquitoes in the nets:

• Check to make sure the CO2 cylinder is open.
• Check to see if there is any CO2 left in the cylinder. (Level on the pressure gauge)
• Check that the pressure gauge is open.
• Check to see if there is a pheromone lure, whether it is positioned correctly, and whether it still emits a scent.
• Check that the cone is clean and that the inlet to the filter is not blocked.
• Check that the trap is plugged in and running continuously.
• Verify that the broadcast ranges are configured correctly.
• If all these conditions are met, the trap must not be positioned correctly.
• Move it to another spot near some vegetation, in a place that is in the shade most of the time, sheltered from the wind, and in an area infested with mosquitoes.

• The trap needs to be positioned correctly, but it might be too far from your patio. Try moving it and, if necessary, placing it closer to the area you want to protect.
• Make sure you’ve eliminated all larval breeding sites near your home. Since mosquitoes can come from within a radius of about 50 meters, it’s difficult to detect and eliminate all larval breeding sites, especially if they’re on your neighbors’ property. However, the more you are able to eliminate those near your living space, the greater the impact will be in terms of the mosquito population and the number of mosquitoes caught in the trap.

The app provides an estimate of CO2 consumption; it can only provide an estimate based on the selected settings. However, it cannot provide a precise, actual value. This is because the cylinder’s fill level, variations in regulator/dispenser systems, and climatic factors causing fluctuations in atmospheric pressure and temperature all influence how gas consumption changes. This is why the information provided by the app may not match exactly with that shown on the pressure gauge (the dial displaying pressure) of the regulator connected to the cylinder. However, the pressure gauge provides a reliable, real-time reading of the gas pressure coming from the cylinder. A slight discrepancy between the app’s estimate and actual consumption is possible, but it should not exceed a few days.

• Check that the black gas hose is securely connected to both the pressure regulator and the dispenser. If the hose is not properly clipped in place or has been pulled, causing a small leak, gas will gradually escape without the app being able to detect it.
• Make sure the regulator is securely tightened onto the cylinder and that there are no leaks allowing gas to escape (by listening carefully or applying a little soapy water to the connection).
